FILTER

Thus far this is def. my favorite tool in photoshop! I have seen photos like this but never knew how people do it, now I get to do it myself! I used the poster edges filter for Connor in the Pool. The top photo of the race car I used the crosshatch filter.

DoDgE and BuRn

Wow! It seem like it took me forever to use the dogde and burn tool. I find that this tool is very unforgiving! The top picture is the picture that I "fixed" I lightened the side of his face and darkened the background. I found it hard because I could see the lines where I lightened.

Color and Light Adjustments

I had a difficult time learning the steps using the tutorial because I have a newer version of Photoshop and the button are in the same places. I cropped my pictures first to help focus the photo. I don't notice a huge difference in the photo, I was expecting it to be a lot different.

Photoshop Day #1

I am really happy with both of these photos. The top photo is the view of Burke mountain from my house, we have an amazing view! The bottom photo is the fire under that sap canals whic brings the sap to a boil and turns it into syrup. I even got to drink fresh warm syrup as I took pictures. What more can you ask for :)

LaNdScApE

The MIT information on landscape was very interesting but more importantly helpful. I like when the tutorials show a lot of pictures, I learn well when I can see examples of what is expected. When I thought of landscape photos I thought of open fields in the summer or lakes, but the MIT website broadened my view. Im not sure if the top picture works for LANDSCAPE but I think it fits. I like the sign, but really like the mountains in the distance. I really like this photo on the bottom out of the handfull that I took in the same spot. This one shows the curves in the road better than the others and that is what I was trying to capture.

Composition

"Diagonal rule"
One side of the picture is divided into two, and then each half is divided into three parts. The adjacent side is divided so that the lines connecting the resulting points form a diagonal frame. According to the Diagonal Rule, important elements of the picture should be placed along these diagonals:

?????????????

I can't figure out how to post photos side by side... when I preview the post it looks how I want it to but when I push publish post it somehow changes the format. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I would be greatful for some advice!!

Rule of Thirds

The photo on the left obviously is using the "rule of thirds" while the photo on the right simply has the object of focus in the center of the picture. I agree that photos that use the "rule of thirds" are more interesting to look at, maybe only because it is new or it might be the effect of the technique.
